LINK: Best Films of 2009

MattSmith has compiled a list of 2009’s best films which are practically synonymous with our own.  Here’s what he says about one of Woody’s picks, Anvil:

“I haven’t ever experienced a music documentary quite like this.  The two permanent members of Anvil! are a testament to the power of musical expression.  This movie pulls on heart-strings while making me want to rock out all night.  Silly as it is, metal is sometimes really fun and energetic music, and this band really gets that.  Experience the opening sequence, with footage from the band thirty years ago up to now thrashing away on their semi-hit “Metal On Metal” and you’ll know what I’m talking about.”

Our other intrepid host’s favorite album was

Rick Ross – Deeper than Rap: Check it on iTunes.
This album is a good way to dip your toe into “guns and bitches rap” without hating yourself.   It’s also great to make parties feel just a LITTLE rowdy.

Columbia Vitals MOVIES of 2009:

WJONES:  Moon, directed by Duncan Jones

MZ:  Departures, directed by Yōjirō Takita (2008 Oscar for Best Foreign film)
